31/365: Racing cars
It's hard to tell, but he discovered that he can pull a 'pull-back car' along the fireplace edge protector and it will go fast until it flies off the edge. He enjoyed seeing how far along the car would make it before it fell off. However, this eventually led to tears and frustration.

30/365: Doorknob Fail
Ethan and a friend were playing and we aren't too sure what happened but she ended up trapped inside Ethan's room. Somehow the doorknob failed. It spun freely but the spring was sprung and part of the components were stuck in the door. Effectively we were locked out and nothing except brute strength and a drywall saw was able to get her out!

Landon tries baby cereal
First reaction was a little anti-climatic. You would think he'd been eating food for ages!
His only complaint was that we couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough. And this is after he had already had a 5 oz bottle of formula.

He really seemed to enjoy it and handled it fine. It seems so strange that my 'baby' baby is ready for this stage. He looked so tiny in the high chair!

Sunday at the farm
Geocaching for the first time in over 2 years.
Ethan's first geocache find. He thought finding 'treasure' was pretty neat! Landon seemed to enjoy it as well.
We love coming out here! I think it is one of the most peaceful places on earth.

26/365: Eating Popcorns
He finally found someone to eat "Popcorns" with him. Not that Mommy wasn't willing, I just didn't want to make it a daily thing. He loves eating popcorn and watching a movie though and has been asking anyone who calls the phone if they 'like popcorns' and if they want to come over and 'eat popcorns' with him. Sweet boy!

25/365: Just a mess, or an adventure unfolding?
I'm not sure, so I decided not to pick up toys before nap today. I'd hate to spoil a good adventure!
* I realize a lot of my posts this month have been more Ethan-centric but a lot of that is due to Landon teething and being my velcro baby. (A lot of these shots were taken with me holding Landon on one knee while knelt on the ground or sat to take a picture. Let me tell you, that's not easy folks!) Okay, writing this I realize that I could setup a tripod and take a self-picture holding Landon- guess there are no excuses! Though that does involve a little more planning and a lot more work. :-)

24/365: Puppy licks tickle
{Playing with Lucy's dogs}
I gave him Benedryl an hour before and no hives when he was licked this time! Since we have about four incidences when being licked by a Shepperd breed dog has given him hives, I'm glad we've found a way to keep it at bay. He loves playing with other peoples dogs.

Just a day at the park
We went out to the park today so that Ethan could ride his new balance bike. He promptly proclaimed it "cool" and was excited to ride it.
Landon thought his own ride was pretty cool too and was pretty chill while Ethan practiced riding his bike. Today was mostly about walking while on the bike and practicing steering.
It was also about sliding
And swinging

And Chewing on fists.
Oh and eating a late picnic lunch. After almost two hours of fun we were all tired and ready to go. Well, at least the tired part. I can think of one little guy who was ready to do it all over again.
little brother bear
We've had some nice weather that's brisk but not too cold to play outside.
While big brother decided to blow bubbles you decided to do the same. Most of the time you were content to watch him climb and explore or sleep in my arms. Soon enough you'll love playing outside too!

19/365: Reading ahead
Not a new toy, but he recently rediscovered some of the other books that he has for the leappad and agreed to take the "Little Engine that Could" off and try a different book. Now that he's a bit older he has the concept down better and was able to operate it all by himself. The system has been sitting in plain sight for a few months but as soon as I put it away in the closet it became interesting again. Figures!

Brothers
Sometimes it takes a little m&m coaxing to be near each other and other times big brother helps soothe him, looks out for him and shares his treasures. Other times I hear "Landon hit me!" at the slightest touch. I can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead for these two!
Ethan: 3 years!
Ethan,
At age 3 you:
- Weigh: 32 lbs and you are 37 inches tall (you finally had a growth spurt and now are back to 50th percentile)
- Wear: Size 3 pj's, size 2 pants and shirts and size 7 shoes. Your size 2 clothes fit perfectly. By the size chart you should be going into 3T but it's still rather big.
- Sleep: Your bed-time has been dragging out from 7:30 pm until 8,9, and even 10 pm depending on the day. On a normal bed-time day you wake up around 6 or 6:30 am but lately you have been going to bed very late and waking up late around 7:30-8:30 am. You are started to phase out your naps and getting ready for nap time usually lasts longer than the nap itself. You don't nap everyday, but lately you have been doing good if I put you down at 2:30 pm you'll sleep for 45 minutes to an hour. If we have an especially busy day, sometimes you'll take a 2 hour nap.
- Eat: You are still picky but doing better than you once were. You eat a little more variety although not much, but you are more willing to inspect/play with/ taste a wider variety of foods.
- Best friend: Your best friend is Gabi and you two play so sweetly together. You also made a new friend named Lucy who you also enjoy playing with.
- Favorite color: Yellow!
- Favorite cartoon is Garfield and your favorite movie is Toy Story.
You have some serious bed-head these days. Recently you got a very short haircut and even that didn't fix your crazy morning hair.
You love everything Halloween and discovered that you could fit one of your plastic bowls inside your candy pumpkin. Once you discovered that you wanted to trick or treat for crackers. You still say "Trick or Treat!" whenever we open the car door to let you out.
You love playing with kitty stuffed animals and pretending to be a kitty yourself. When you are really happy or excited you pretend to be a kitty. On Christmas morning you turned into a kitty the moment you saw the toys that Santa brought. Also, when you saw your Uncle Adam you turned into a cat as well. One day at the grocery store you were being a kitty and you reached out and took a kitty swipe at a lady pushing her cart. Oy.
One of your favorite things to do is "play the Beau-cat". Thankfully Beau likes playing with you too! Usually from up high on his scratching post where he feels safe. You like to throw a shoe-lace up to him for him to catch.
As much as we try to teach you not to chase the kitties, you still say "I chase cats, they're friends!".
You are a bit fascinated with the idea of monsters these days. Thankfully you are only pretend scared of them. For now.
The other day you unlocked both the front door lock and the deadbolt and let yourself out the front door. You didn't get far before I caught up with you. Then you saw a stranger wearing a hoodie walking on the other side of the street and you pointed at him and loudly proclaimed him "bad", and a "monster". You repeated yourself several times (probably hoping I'd acknowledge what you were saying instead of trying to divert your attention). I know the man heard you because I heard laughter.
I haven't been very good and writing down the funny things that you say. And when I do, I write them on scraps of paper that I then loose.
Some of the things I have written down are: Baby...peach (has a) good smell. *Standing next to Landon's bed showing his brother a fresh peach* (sweet moment)
"Catch the light! Catch the light!" running around the house with a flashlight chasing his beam of light.
"The wheels go roundy round, roundy round, roundy round. The wheels go roundy round all day long."

Also you kept taking our shatterproof Christmas balls off the tree in pairs of two. Then you would say that they are friends and that their names were Gabi and Ethan.
You like to stand at your bedroom window and call out to the outdoors inviting Gabi or Lucy to come play. Then you tell me that you are going to wait and look for them out the window.
These days we have a lot of toys that need rescuing or a doctor. Sometimes they need both.
Usually its because they are too high or too tall to jump.
And bandits (Band Aids) make eveeery thing better.
You put some shoes on by yourself over your pj's and then came to us excitedly saying "I have shoes! Lets get in the car! See Poppy and Grammy and Grand Daddy and Mimi, and Poppy, and Grammy and Christmas lights!".
One of your favorite games around Christmas was running under the stockings and letting them flap against your head as you said "owie, owie, owie, owie!" Then you would run to Daddy and say "kiss it!" and gives him you forehead to kiss and say "Lots of owies, lots of kiss its!"

Playing in your "Rocket". If you look at it just right, it does kind of look like on!
These days you like to call your belly button your "Blast off button".
You have starting singing made up songs to the tune of songs that you know. I love this. Your songs are so entertaining!
Some of your favorite inside things to do these days are play-doh, stickers, coloring books, watercolors and coloring with chalk and dry erase. You love crafts!
You have started trying to haggle with us when it comes to food and what you can eat. Funny that you try, but no.
You are so fun and I love seeing your imagination and personality unfold. You keep me on my toes! I have a feeling age 3 is going to be very interesting!
