Landon 3.75 years old
Landon,
At age 3.75 you are 38 lbs and too wiggly to get a proper height measurement. You are wearing size 4 clothes and size 9 shoes.
You have become my little mad scientist. Exploring, testing, taking apart, and analyzing anything you can get your hands on. When I was sewing a curtain you were upset with me because you wanted to create something too. You took something apart and brought me the batteries and told me you wanted to create something with them. Your vocabulary has exploded and you are sounding older and older everyday. You are expressing yourself and your feelings so much better these days. It really makes it apparent to me that you are on the downhill slope to your next birthday. FOUR. Yikes that sounds big. You've been sounding out words, and memorizing spellings and then pointing them out when you see the object. We discovered that you can read cvc words (consonant vowl constant). You can tell time to the hour. You also have little interest in potty training. At times you decide you want to, but its inconsistent. You'll get there. Right now life is more interesting.

Your independence has taken on a bit of a sneaky streak. I can't say how many times I've gone to the bathroom and come you to find you attempting to pour yourself juice, find you eating a second yogurt, or getting your own snack. "But Mom, I just Hungry!" Can't wait a couple minutes to ask- because with the exception of fruit, the answer would be no!
Any chance you have to play in water or mud you will take. We unhooked the water hose thinking it would deter you but it didn't! Now that its not winter we can embrace it.

You LOVE the cats. You try to get as close to them as you possibly can before they run off. Sometimes that means you are lying a foot or two away from them on the bed and inching yourself closer.
On your own, you aren't really an introvert and you are becoming a lot louder. You are more introverted than your brother though and like to take time to play alone or even silently. Several times a day you'll retreat into your room to read/look at books by yourself.
Some recent quotes:
- "Storm! Don't turn off Daddy's lights! No no no! (No, I'm talking to the storm!) storm? Please. No no no." (Flickering lights during storm)
- (feeling contrary) "No mom. No. No cereal. I NO like it. It's broken mama. It's not working. It's closed"
- "Mama, the kitty doesn't like band-aids."
- While watching the storm and lightning with each lightning flash you said, "On! Off!"
- "Thanks for helping, Mom!" and "I'm glad you're here, Mom!" (or Dad)
- "Oh Mr. Beauregard, wake up cat! Oh sweet kitty cat. What is it? How your day go cat? Smell my fingers! They're purple!"
- "Aww sweet kitty cat. I give you a hug Mr. Cat. I comfort you."
- (Humming the Star Wars theme song as he flies pops cereal towards his mouth...) "I'm eating the pops spaceships." (Repeats with a few more 'spaceships' then starts making explosion noises)
- "Hurray! Hurray for dad!"
- "I don't like your words. Say 'I'm sorry Landon" (after being told No)
- "No clouds! Don't make the rain, that's naughty!"
- My room! It's dark in here! I turn the light on- COCK-A-DOODLE-DO!"
- "No! I no brush teeth! I don't like that! (Sits behind couch and pouts) I no brush teeth ever again!"
- "Hahaha! BYE SPIDER! I got in the house!" (Running away from a spider)
- "Mama, the cat friend scratched my head and made Weil-wee mad"
-"Hi! I'm Landon! Nice to meet you lady!" (when you aren't with your brother you are pretty outgoing all on your own!)
- (story) You wanted a birdhouse and we got you a small one to paint. When you were done, you asked us to hang it outside and then called out to every bird you saw and asked the birdies if they wanted to live in your birdhouse.
- (story) One day at Ethan's soccer game you ran off towards what I thought was a group of people and said "I want a hug" Confused, I offered you a hug but you pointed off towards the strangers again and stated that you wanted a hug. Then you mentioned that you wanted to hug Mr. Light and ran off to hug the giant light pole for the field lights. You looked so delighted. It felt like you had just met a celebrity. Mr. Big and Powerful Light.

I love hearing you talk and express more of your personality. You love houses of all kinds, doorbells and locks. You also pretend our car is a spaceship that has a doorbell and a phone and you'll thank it for giving us a ride. You are terrified of spiders, still obsessed with lights, and best friends with your brother. You are growing up so quickly!

1 Second Videos
Over the last month or so we've been playing around with an app called 1 Second Everyday. We haven't been using it daily, but we have been using it to create little one second video clips of daily life. Below are the collages we've made so far:
