{Daily Moments} The everyday
One day it'll look a little less cluttered, and those little legs will touch the floor. But for now, this is our everyday.

Plant Shop
Ethan and Landon had a plant shop going the other day. They played for hours digging up weeds and replanting them. Ethan told me that one of the plants cost $102. When I asked why so much he said that its because the yellow flower attracts girls and makes them fall in love.

Outside with Landon

Landon,
You are and have always been my outdoor boy! On these warm winter days I truly believe you could spend the entire day outdoors. Even after four hours you aren't quite ready to go inside.

Lately, your favorite place in the yard has been this far spot in the side yard. Usually its because its muddy and is the last spot to dry out. You love digging in the mud with your plastic x-wing spaceship, dinosaurs, toy spatula, and of course fingers. You usually have clay mud caked on your fingers.
I often find you rescuing your "stuck in the mud" x-wing (while you recite the book "Little Blue Truck") or making mud pies for me to eat with your spatula. On this particular day, you had two dinosaurs in a truck and they were foraging for food. You fed them weeds and little pieces of dry mud. The dinosaurs had many adventures in there truck as they traveled the side yard.
Your second love is the sandbox. I find you experimenting with the sand (you were sifting sand through a pinwheel to see how it compared to your sandmill), digging, or creating footprints in the sand. You love to stand and walk around in the sand barefoot, making mud in the sand, and even laying in the sand. The other day you even tried to eat the sand. You definitely like to experience it whole-body.
Your other favorite outside activities are climbing your toy slide, climbing the structure from the outside/hardest point, and sitting perched up on the top corner of your slide-structure. When you aren't doing that, you like to roll balls and toys off the roof of the playhouse. You would dearly love to be able to climb up and sit on the top like your brother!
We have so much fun outside Landy-lou. I'm glad we have a backyard big enough for you to explore!

Outside with Ethan
Ethan,
Since moving to this house, you have begun to enjoy being outside so much more than before. This winter your outside time has revolved a lot around the sandbox or sitting ontop of the playhouse roof. You also like to climb the poles of the sky island swing and call it "Mountain Climbing Practice". On weekends when your Dad is home, y'all practice soccer in the yard as well.
Some of your recent sandbox games are:
- Star wars guys vs. terryfying vegetation and plants with super abilities.
- Dinosaur bone dig/rock dig.
- Playing Pirates. The Pirates are usually digging for some special rocks. Sometimes they aren't digging. One day they would locate a treasure and then circle up and sing their magic treasure song and the rock would lift itself up through the sand and air and come to them. Another day they dug and found dinosaur bones instead and the dinosaur skeletons turned out to be "alive bones" and were trying to protect the treasure from the pirates.
Your games are fun. I'm glad you still play your stories out-loud so that I can enjoy them with you.
Sometimes we do school outside. Most of the time we do it inside but on this day we did art and reading outside while your brother played.
We sure do enjoy these warm winter days when we can spend half our day in the yard!
