181/365: Elephant walk

We are getting so close to having a mobile baby. Any day now he'll figure out the coordination.

180/365: Sitting in the sun

Ethan asked if we could go sit outside in the sun. It was super hot outside and not my first choice of activity but we did it anyway. We didn't last long. E played with a stick while L watched and then he proclaimed that it was too hot and he wanted to come back inside and play. Funny thing is that he has asked to see the picture of "Ethan and Landon sitting in the sun" a few times now. Then he likes to talk about how his toes are big and long and Landon's are little. Silly boy!

179/365: Summer fun

On Friday we setup the kiddie pool and beach umbrella again so that Ethan and his friend Gabi could swim in the shade. I also brought the bubble machine out! While the bubbles were a hit (as always) the biggest hit was the grass-less patch of dirt from some paving stones that we removed. Gabi and Ethan had the most fun taking water from the pool and putting in the dirty low-spot and making mud. :-)

178/365: Playing Trains

Landon played with the big Thomas whistle while Ethan played with James (his favorite engine).

After the splash park we went to the McDonald's playplace with Lucy.

Letter to my Sons: My Boys

My boys,

Y'all have been going through a bit of a rough patch. Y'all are still great friends and love to play together, but like lots of friends you also fight. Lately you have been fighting a lot. Whatever toy your brother has, it must be better than what you currently have. Landon, Ethan, it doesn't matter who. You want what the other brother has. While it is very trying and there have been lots of tears, time-outs, and re-directs, there have also been moments when it has reached comical moments. Very frustrating, but also comical.

Like today when you were both chasing rainbows. And fighting over getting to touch the same rainbow.

I'm sure we have many more years of the green-eyed monster ahead, but boys, can we please try to tone it down a bit? Your Mama's sanity depends on it. ;-)

(And Landon, I need to add that while your brother takes many many toys away from you, he also fiercely stands up for you the moment another kid does the same thing. Just thought I should get that on the record.)

173/365: Playing together

We've had lots of sharing issues lately (Landon has started getting mad when toys are taken or he can't play too) but for this moment, they were playing nicely together.

172/365: Car nap

Home after playing for 4 hours at Gabi's house. They had so much fun the car nap was inevitable.

171/365: New Skill

During his nap, Landon learned how to go from laying down to sitting up all by himself. I came in his room to check on him and was very surprised to see this! That night we lowered the crib mattress.

170/365: Ready and waiting to go

We got ready much faster than anticpated this morning and had to wait until time to go. The splash parks don't turn the water on until 10!
