Halloween

You've already seen what Ethan did for Halloween but what did Garrett and I do?

Well we took turns carving our pumpkins while playing with Ethan, then we roasted the pumpkin seeds. We did two different recipes this year. One seasoned with Lowry's Season Salt and the other seasoned with a mix of butter, cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and all-spice. Both were yummy!

In the evening once Ethan was down for the night we put the lit pumpkins on either side of our entertainment center and watched a few episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents while munching on candy corn and pumpkin seeds. It was low-key but a lot of fun!

What's in here?

Ooooh, whats THAT?

That was slimy but fun! Lets try that again.

HERE they are again!

Garrett's pumpkin. He carved the boogey man from Ghostbusters.

My pumpkin

Past Pumpkins

Garrett and I have been carving pumpkins together since 2003, however I couldn't find the photos of our first pumpkins that we carved together. I guess that after 7 years and several hard drives plus multiple naming conventions that I have used for my photos it has disappeared to who knows where.

Texas State Fair

I'm playing catch up here, but on October 16th, Garrett, Ethan and I went to the Texas State Fair. We didn't want to mess with the stroller on the train, so we took turns with the baby carrier. Ethan enjoys "baby wearing" and I think it was the perfect choice with the crowds.

Once it got dark, we saw a neat light show set to music. The fireballs were pretty cool but Ethan thought they were kind of scary. Poor baby!

Ethan did enjoy looking around and taking in the sights and smells though.

We enjoyed walking around the fair grounds and taking in the sights. We didn't ride any rides but we did enjoy sampling the fair food. Garrett and I tried the fried Oreo- it was pretty good! It tasted like an Oreo wrapped in funnel cake. Nothing too spectacular but it was fun to try. There is just something about being at a fair that takes you back to childhood. We can't wait until Ethan is old enough to get excited about it and ride some of the rides. :-)

Dragon Ball E

Hailey, you said that you wanted a video of your nephew growling in his dragon costume so here it is...this video is for you!

This video was taken three weeks ago so in all fairness to Ethan, he can get around a lot better in his costume now! ;-)

Costume Parties!

Ethan has had a busy week which included two costume parties! The first costume party was held at the Plano Senior Center. It included a parade to show off their costumes, and then a party outside with a toddler sized haunted house (non-scary) to crawl through and a toddler sized bounce house.

Sharing something to chew on. I looked over and Ethan was chewing on "Tiger Wood's" golf club and then I saw him hand it over for his friend to chew on!

The second costume party was held at his friend Hayley's house. The kids had fun playing with toys and playing outside!

It was so funny to see the kids reactions to each other once they were in costume. One girl started hugging on Ethan like he was a stuffed animal, another kept looking at him like she was confused, and others wanted to play with his dragon's snout. As for Ethan, he was bent on pulling the tigers tail, tinker bells wings, and kept trying to grab the shiny red shoes of the little girl wearing a clown costume.

Garrett's in the Doghouse!

Garrett's group at work decided to dress up for Halloween in the theme of Peanuts. :-)

Mamarazzi Monday

Out in the internet world there is a term for Mom's like me: "Mamarazzi" :-) So what does Ethan do at home during the day when Daddy is at work?

We sit outside in the sunshine and watch the birds and ducks while listening to the song of nature...

Well, maybe not every day, but sometimes! However a more realistic picture of our day is this...

I was thinking about how I hadn't had a moment to even think about blogging this week since Ethan's been busy getting into everything when I started to realize how frustrated I was feeling. I figured the best way to de-stress would be to laugh at what he was up to and sit back and take a few photos (in between stopping him for getting into too much trouble that is!). Ethan's favorite things to do are stand, grab a stuffed animal to stand with/take along for the mischief adventure, and crawl around the house trying to get into the same things over and over again. :-) And when said things have been removed from where he can get into them he either tries again to get them in their new place or he finds something new that I previously thought was "baby proof". 9 month olds are tiring fun!

Ethan's two favorite accomplices:

Carl the Penguin

Little Bear (My bear from childhood)

Not pictured is Ethan yanking on the vertical blinds and pulling paper shreds out of the paper shredder bin, but those are also two majorly fun things that he likes to do! The paper shredder is relocatable, unfortunately Ethan is good at getting around the obstacles that I set up to keep him from getting to the vertical blinds.

When Daddy comes home he gets to share in the fun as well!

It's hard not to love this boy even if he is a handful!
