4 weeks old!

On Tuesday, Ethan turned 4 weeks old! Photo time! He cooperated nicely by letting me dress him up in his baby Aggie gear and snap a few photos!

If I had planned better, I would have had Garrett give me his Aggie ring before he left for work so that I could have taken photos of Ethan with his Mom and Dad's Aggie rings! Oh well, next photo shoot! Or maybe I'll wait until his Grand Daddy is here with his Aggie ring and his Great Great Grandfather's Aggie ring! Yep, thats right- If (when) Ethan is part of the Fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2032 he will be a 5th generation Aggie!

The last two days Ethan has been a bit fussy. We think he may be going through a growth spurt because he has been eating more frequently and more of it too! The first day that he went closer between two feedings and started draining his 3 oz bottle we increased the amount to 3.5 oz. The next day we increased it to 4 oz and that seemed to do the trick! He is growing and thriving!

Okay, Ethan! Here is your week 4 summary:

- You eat 4 ounces a feeding
- You are still wearing newborn clothing! Size 0-3 that runs small fits alright. They are baggy but it works!
- You do NOT like tub baths. :-(
- Had your first blowout diaper! (Glad Daddy discovered this one!)
- Hilarious moment when Daddy was burping you- you lifted your head off the burp cloth and proceeded to spit up down your Daddy's collar! It ran all down the front of his shirt and the inside of his shirt. He even had it in his belly button. :-) Too funny!

Who does Ethan look like?

Well, I personally think he resembles his Daddy a lot. But then again, I do see bits of myself in him too.

He has mine and my mother's ears

He also has mine and Morgan's toes.

However, I think he definitely has Garrett's nose and eyes. I also think he has his eyebrows as well (even though they are hard to see on him right now).

Most of the time what jumps out the most is Garrett's features but I do think that he has my mouth.

Who do you think he looks like?

I personally don't like background music on blogs but here is a link to a song that someone shared with me while I was pregnant and I think its appropriate.

Saturday morning stroll

Saturday Garrett, Ethan, and I decided to head out and do some exploring! A few streets away we found this park!

As you can see, Ethan is starting to grow into his pram suit! He still doesn't fill out the arms and legs, but he's getting closer!

He was a pretty easy going baby and slept the whole time we walked in the park. We also got coffee and drove around downtown and through some of the neighborhoods for fun. It was nice to get out of the apartment and see our surroundings during daylight hours. And I LOVE looking at houses for fun. :-)

The night before Garrett, Ethan and I had dinner at Ryan and Chalyce's house. Dinner was fantastic and it was so nice to get out and talk with another couple. Their loft was designed by an artistic guy who designed it for himself (and then later had to move and rent it out) so it was super cool looking! We enjoyed being given the "Grand Tour". It's fun seeing custom designed houses.

I snapped a quick picture of Ethan and Daddy before we left. Ethan was all dressed up and ready to go visiting!

Pay special attention to the shoes- yes, those are vintage! Those are the same newborn shoes that his Daddy wore almost 29 years ago! :-)

The past three weeks

Ethan, you are three weeks and one day old today!

Some of your milestones:

At two weeks you weighed 8 lbs and 4 oz and were 21 inches long. That's an increase of 7 oz and 1 inch since birth! You are a growing and thriving boy. You are also taking 3 oz of formula now.

You are still wearing your newborn sized outfits. Even though you are past the weight limit for them they still fit you great with a bit of room to spare. Size 0-3 is still too big for you right now. You recently ran out of newborn diapers and we graduated you to size 1's! They fit you great when we fold them down a bit in front.

At three weeks and one day you lost your cord stump and you now have a belly button! We thought you'd never get your belly button but you finally did. Instead of an innie or an outtie you have an inbetweeny belly button- just like your Daddy!

Nicknames so far:

- Little E
- Little boy little boy! (his Daddy's favorite nickname)
- Sir Poops a lot! (okay- he won't thank me for this one later!)

Welcome home baby boy! Ethan 2 days old.

Ethan 5 days old. Dressed and ready for his first walk! His arms and legs only halfway filled out his pram suit.

Happy clean changed baby! Ethan 1 week old.

Daddy and Ethan love 'Tummy Time'!

You have your days and nights mixed up. Just because you live in a College town doesn't mean you are supposed to be up at night little Aggie!

You have been discovering your tongue and like to stick it out- silly boy!

Ethan 2.5 weeks old. Dressed for his first grocery store run!

Team Moring's Dallas Adventure

Since having a baby just wasn't enough change and upheaval, Garrett and I decided to throw a mini-move into the mix!

When Ethan was one day old, Garrett got a short term job contract offer for a company in Dallas! He had started sending out his resume during his Christmas Break, but we hadn't expected to hear anything so soon. Garrett is thrilled to have an opportunity to use the skills he's been learning in Grad School and work at a job in his career field.

Well, things starting moving quickly from there! The first week of Ethan's life went by pretty quick and during week two Garrett went up to Dallas, found an apartment and then we had about a day and a half to get what we needed for the next three months packed up and loaded to go! We were very blessed that during this time our Church family was bringing us meals to help us through this time of transition.

Thursday and Friday our friend Justin came and helped us pack and move things onto the U-Haul and Friday at noon we headed out! We figured in time for delays (feeding the baby etc) however, we were unable to foresee all the delays that came up during our trip and when we were close to Dallas we discovered that we wouldn't make it in time before the apartment office closed. Garrett called ahead and spoke with them, but there was nothing we could do except find a place to stay the night and wait until morning to move into our new apartment. This meant another day of fees for the U-Haul and trailer. However there was a blessing in this though- for some reason the guy at the U-haul place never charged us the overage fees. And since the U-haul was due at 2 pm (which we didn't know) we would have had TWO extra days of fees!

Did I fail to mention that not only were we traveling with a 2 1/2 week old baby, but we were also traveling with two cats? And did I mention that these two cats HATE car trips?

Well, even though the move wasn't going according to plan, there was a silver lining to this. My Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Alan live in Arlington which we weren't too far away from and they told us that we could stay the night with them. So U-haul, trailer, 2 cats and baby all stayed with my relatives. They were super sweet to put us up for the night and not only that but they heated up dinner for us and had it waiting when we arrived. It was great and just what we needed after a long stressful day! Also in the morning we got to visit with my grandmother and Aunt Beth before heading over to the apartment complex.

When we got to the apartment complex we found out that since we didn't move in on our move in day our lease was deleted out of their system. Oh well! We were able to re-sign all the paperwork though and sweet Ethan decided to give his parents a break and waited until we were done with the paperwork before he decided he was hungry and unhappy.

Once again we were blessed by our friends! Two of our former classmates at A&M, Ryan and Chalyce, live in the area and they came by to help us unload the truck! If it weren't for them I don't know how we would have pulled it off. Being just two weeks postpartum I had barely gotten clearance to drive to Dallas and wasn't supposed to do anything as heavy as lifting and moving boxes. Not only were they sweet and helped us move, but they also came by the next day with a lasagna for us! It was amazing and very much appreciated!

Well, Ethan has had some pretty big firsts for his first three weeks of life! First trip (other than the pediatricians office) a move! Fist grocery store run- was three stops long and was a long expensive run because we were setting up house in the Dallas Apartment! Our little baby may not sleep at night, but he sure was sweet and made the move and grocery run as easy for us as he possibly could.

Here is a picture of 2 1/2 week old Ethan dressed and ready for his first grocery store run!

We are so excited about Garrett's opportunity here in Dallas, but we are also sad to be away from College Station and our friends and Church family! It's bittersweet- we love College Station, its where we met, fell in love, and had our first few years of marriage- but we are excited about this new adventure. Ethan and I will be back at the end of March so its not forever. As for after that, Garrett still plans to graduate in August and from there we'll just have to see where our adventure takes us!

I do have to say that having my husband by my side has been amazing as we have gone through these past few weeks. Not only has he been amazing with Ethan (quick to change and feed him) but he's also been my best friend and I don't know when I have ever felt more bonded and like a "team". We've laughed together through all of the ups and downs of the moving process and (in hindsight) enjoyed every moment of it!
