A Favorite Book

Little Blue Truck is one of your favorite books and has been read many many times. It almost never makes its way back to your bookshelf. You have the book memorized now and can "read" it to me. I love hearing your version of it and I am amazed at how accurately you remember what each page is about!

"HONK!" your favorite part of the book.

Great job, Landon! Let's read it again.

Landon: 23 Months!

Landon,

At 23 months you:
  • Weigh: 29.8 lbs
  • Wear size 4 diapers and about to go into size 5.
  • Clothes size: Mostly 24 month, starting to wear some 2T.
  • Sleep: Majorly resisting naps. Its a struggle to get the routine started. You are trying to start your nap later and later.
  • Food: Your favorite food this month is carrots! I found you randomly eating a carrot on my bed and realized that you had a stash of carrot sticks in your pocket from lunch. Later I found a few stray carrots in my bed.
  • Words: You continue to say anything and everything. Your memory is great and you surprised us by pointing out and labeling the house of one of your neighborhood friends. You are also really good at labeling what is wrong or what is bothering you (to a certain extent).
  • You love to sing. I love it when you join in and sing along with me. I have sweet memories of you singing "you are my sunshine" along with me in your rocking chair before bed.

  • You love art. You can un-cap and cap the markers all by yourself and erase your own art. You love drawing on the easel and if your brother leaves the markers down you'll gladly pull up a chair and help yourself. I do have to be careful to note where Ethan leaves the markers though because you are willing to do art anywhere! ;-)

Couldn't get his glasses back on right.

It is hard to be almost two. You are smart and capable but your motor skills are not where your intellect is and you are going through a period of frustration. You want to be as big as your brother. You pay attention when he works on phonics and now YOU know some phonics and sight-words in addition to your letters and numbers. You are racing to keep up with him.

At the moment, you are pretty good at dealing with your frustration. Most of your fits tend to be short-lived and you get over it quickly instead of letting it ruin the remainder of your day.

  • You have had "Let it Go!" stuck in your head. You sing it all the time!
  • You have your own cars and while you do play with your own toys, you prefer your brother's. You especially love carrying around his batman car.

If we ever loose track of where you are, you can bet that we will find you playing in your brother's room.

"HEY....it's YOU!"

Knocking on the mirror and talking to his reflection.

  • One day I caught you playing peek-a-boo with yourself in the mirror. You were cracking yourself up!

Landon, this is the last month that I can call you a one year old. I am seeing so much change in you right now. From one day to the next you shift from "baby" to "small child" in your looks. You still have your sturdy baby legs and build but sometimes I look at you and you just look so BIG. Sometimes when you are sitting next to your brother you don't seem so much smaller and I can see glimpses into a time when you are both bigger kids and close in size. I continue to be amazed by how quickly you have grown and changed this past year!

Vacation! Virginia Trip: 8/16/13 and 8/17/13

8/16/13

We went out for a walk along the bike trail that my Dad frequents and we stopped by to see the nearby Quarry.

Next we decided to look up some Geo-caches while we were out there.

Found it!

8/17/13

We left for home on a rainy day and from what I remember it was pretty uneventful!

And that wraps up my photos from our vacation last year! Almost exactly one year old!
