1 Second Videos

Over the last month or so we've been playing around with an app called 1 Second Everyday. We haven't been using it daily, but we have been using it to create little one second video clips of daily life. Below are the collages we've made so far:

First video (its a little long)

Video Post!

We are horrible about remembering to take video and then once we take video remembering to do something with the videos. :-) Here are a few videos from a couple of weeks ago. Ethan doing his burn out circuit before bedtime. He loves it when his dada gets home because they play "chase" together.

Ethan was excited to find his teddy bear in the closet.

Nothing terribly exciting just little moments from our daily routine that I want to remember. :-)

Evening at the playground

(ps- I know I'm horribly behind on my "Joy of Love" posts. I haven't quit, I just took a break from it one night and haven't gotten back into it. This is why I haven't tried project 365 yet!)

So we accidentally found out that laser pointers entertain more than just cats.

It was a good way to get out some energy before his bedtime! ;-) (Poor kitties. Bailey and Beau wanted to play but they had to wait until Ethan had tired of it first)

Video Post!

Ethan loves to crawl under his exersaucer to play. This was his "hyper hour" before bedtime, which this night, was later than usual. At this point it's already 9pm.

Please excuse the laundry in the background. I don't know why but it seems we always take videos on laundry day! Either that or we don't always promptly put it up, but if that's the case I'll never tell! ;-)

Dragon Ball E

Hailey, you said that you wanted a video of your nephew growling in his dragon costume so here it is...this video is for you!

This video was taken three weeks ago so in all fairness to Ethan, he can get around a lot better in his costume now! ;-)

Video Post!

We are bad about taking videos of Ethan. For one, we tend to forget about the video camera, and two, we forget to do anything with the videos when we are done with them! Since we've recently been on a video kick I figured it was time to finally share some of our videos. :-)

This is one of Ethan's favorite new faces to make. We call it "fish face" and "frowny fish face"

5 Months!

Five Months! Sometimes when I hear those words it sounds a little too close to half a year and I am in disbelief. Sometimes I hear those words (when I'm tired) and think....ONLY five months? Either way you look at it though, these have been five of the most fulfilling months of our lives. We love you, Ethan and are so glad that you are a part of our family!

Ethan, at five months you are:

-Shrieking (at the top of your lungs I might add) with happiness at your toys or just when you are happy

-knocking your toys off your bumbo play tray and then bending down to pick them back up off the floor

- Smiling at everything but you also get frustrated quickly with your toys when they don't do what you want them to do

Playing with a Ball from Liesl Moring on Vimeo.
- No longer sleeping through the night and you are having trouble with naps. We had a week where you were doing great taking naps in your bed but now you'll only take a good nap if Momma holds you. On your own in your crib your naps only last about 3o minutes and its only after much fussing as we try to get you down.

- Scooting around on your tummy

- Reaching out to explore anything that gets near you

- Love playing rocket with Daddy

- Spend a good part of your day blowing spit bubbles

- Weigh 18 lbs, yes that's right, EIGHTEEN pounds! Took the headrest out of the car seat after seeing this photo! When did you get so big? Just two weeks ago you could still see the car seat logo right above your head and you only weighed 16.5 lbs... you are growing so fast!

- So interested in anything we eat or drink! You act like you want to drink from a cup SO bad! You were so interested in my drink that I gave you a cup to play with.

- You like to hold your bottle when we feed you. You still need help a lot of the time though! The eczema outbreak you had on your face was bad but it is starting to get better now!

- You are also starting to enjoy our daily walks in the park again. You mostly play with the toys we bring for you but occasionally you will nap.

- Starting to mimic us. If I stick my tongue out at you you try to do it back! What a fun game!

Raspberries from Liesl Moring on Vimeo.
You also are:
- Saying Oooo, ahhhh, daaah, baaaa
- Love to eat bananas, applesauce, sweet potatoes and pears.
- Wearing size 6-9 month clothing, size 2 shoes and size 3 diapers.

Happy 5 month's Ethan!

Rice Cereal and 4 month update

On Thursday Ethan had his 4 month well baby visit. He did great! He smiled and was pretty happy until after the shots which was a big improvement over his 2 month well baby visit. His official 4 month stats are:

Height: 25 3/4 inches (77 th percentile)
Weight: 16 lbs 1 oz (75 th percentile)
Head: 42.8 (55th percentile)

Clothes: 3-6 month
Shoes: 0-3 month
Diapers: Size 2

Poor little guy was super unhappy the rest of the day and ran a fever from the shots but he's better today. When we were at the doctors office the pediatrician suggested that we try Ethan on rice cereal. I had originally planned on holding off a bit longer but the pediatrician felt that he was ready based on the signs he has been giving us. So...we gave rice cereal a go!

Was it a success? I think so. I'm really not sure if Ethan likes it or not. He didn't eat very much of it but I kind of expected that for a first try. He seemed puzzled by it and made some interesting faces but did manage to eat at least as much as ended up on his bib. :-)

Here is a video of Ethan eating rice cereal.

And while it was entertaining to watch Ethan eat cereal it was equally entertaining to watch his Daddy try a bite!

Here is a video of Garrett trying rice cereal...hehehe

The funny thing is that Garrett didn't realize that the video camera was still on at first. He set it down on the table while it was still running. I was laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. :-)

6 Weeks!

Ethan is now 6 weeks old! That means it's report card time, right??

So how has Ethan been doing? Well, if I was Ethan's teacher these are the marks I'd give him:

Eating- E for Excellent. He eats plenty!
Sleeping- N for Needs Improvement. More on this later.
Pooping- E for Excellent. Self explanatory.
Smiling- S for Satisfactory. We just don't see smiles as often as we'd like!
Traveling- S for Satisfactory. He does pretty well given his age!
Watching stuff- E for Excellent. His fish mobile and light bulbs capture most of his attention.
Cuteness- E for Excellent. Socks that look like animal feet go a long way in this category.

Overall score? His Daddy says he gets an 89 but that if he starts sleeping better he could be bumped up to an A-. ;-)

Ethan's days and nights aren't mixed up as bad as before, but he's still a night owl. Only now that he's alert more during the day he no longer goes down for naps in his bouncer. Sometimes he'll take an hour nap in his swing, but I can never count on it. Most time he sits in the swing for 10- 15 minutes and watches his mobile while I get dressed and try to quickly grab something to eat. Pretty much they only way I can get him to nap is by putting him in his sling, or sometimes I just hold him if he falls asleep after his bottle. I'd love for him to start napping in his bed, but that is something that we are working on. As for the night times, he wakes up several times between his feedings. If I keep a hand on him he'll sleep but he wakes up a few minutes after I remove my hand. We usually can't get him down for the night until between 1:30-2:30 AM. If I fall asleep with my hand on him though and I don't remove it he'll typically go a 2 hour stretch at one point during the night.

Here are some pictures from Tuesday (the day Ethan turned 6 weeks!):

That boy loves his flying fish!

Now bath time is a breeze!

All done!

Ethan all clean and ready for bed! (Is he sleepy? No)

Dinosaur feet!

What are you doing, Dad?

This is not a sleepy boy!
