Landon newborn photos

When Landon was a week old I took some newborn photos of him and then shortly after started dealing with all the herniated disc problems and never finished editing the shoot. I held off posting these because I intended to go back and edit some more but since he's already almost 4 months old I guess I'd have to say that the chances of that are slim. ;-) So I'm going to go ahead and post what I did edit and call it done. :-)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A photographer friend of mine generously lent me her newborn props so that I could take Landon's newborn photos! I have never done newborn photos before so it was both fun and enlightening figuring it all out but I enjoyed taking photos of little Landon!

Little details. This is where I wish I had remembered that I was going to rent a macro lens to photograph a few of these precious details. Oh well, it slipped my mind!

Just 1 week old.

Landon: 1 month!

Landon,

At 1 month old you:

  • Weighed 10 lbs (Now at 5 weeks you already weigh 11 lbs)
  • Eats 4 ounces every 3 hours.
  • Still wake every 3 hours to eat but at just 15 days old you slept for a 5 hour stretch of time and at 26 and  28 days old you went 7.5 hours.
  • Wear size 1 diapers and size 0-3 month clothing. (you wore size newborn for 3.5 weeks)

Your nicknames at the moment are Squeaker and "little bitty Landon".

You spend a lot more time awake now and you respond to our voices and are following objects with your eyes.

You are also very strong and lift up your head and torso when you are laying on our chests. You are getting good head control. It seems that you are already growing up faster than your brother did.

You still sleep in our room in your pack n' play which is currently right next to our bed. Like clock work you get fussy at 1 hour and 45 minutes after you take a bottle and you want your pacifier. You lose the pacifier several times but then you'll take it and calm down and go to sleep.

You are still an easy baby and pretty laid back. It is so fun to watch you and discover your own personality traits. I can't wait to watch you grow and see who you become. But please don't grow too fast baby boy!

Landon: 2 week update!

3 days old

Landon,

At 2 weeks old you:

  • Weigh 8 lbs 4 oz. That's exactly one whole pound more than your birth weight! (50th percentile)
  • are 20.5 inches long. You grew a whopping 1.5 inches since birth! (55th percentile)
  • have a head circumference of 36 (45th percentile)
  • wear size newborn diaper folded down in the front because its still too big even with the cord cutout
  • wear size newborn clothing
  • eat 3 ounces of formula every 3-4 hours.
3 days old

You had almost lost your cord stump so the doctor helped it along the rest of the way at your 2 week appointment.

You sleep 3-4 hours at a stretch at night (with short little wakeful periods during each stretch where you easily settle back down with a pacifier or a hand on you for a moment). You sleep best at night when swaddled and you are already taking 1 hour naps unswaddled in the crib in your room.

2 days old
You love to stretch out. You are enjoying having your own space!

2 days old
When you eat, you are noisy and make loud squeaking noises and loud gulps.

3 days old

Little details that I love: When you are done eating you stick out your bottom lip and purse your lips really tight whenever we try offering you the rest of your bottle/or a pacifier. I also love how you frantically root around for the bottle whenever it gets near you and its time to eat.

6 days old

You are becoming more aware of your surroundings and have you eyes open more than when you were first born. I love when you look like you are trying to memorize my face.

5 days old

You are a very relaxed and easy going baby! Loud noises don't seem to bother you (which is good with your brother around!) and you are pretty content most of the time!

14 days old
Landon, I'm sure I'm going to be saying this a lot, but these past two weeks have flown by!

Welcome Home Landon!

You were born on Friday early in the morning and we left the hospital to bring you home Saturday afternoon. Just 1 day old! We missed your brother and were ready to have our family together again and have you at home with us.

Wearing the same blanket that your Daddy wore coming home from the hospital 31 years ago.

Before we left, your Mimi and Poppy dropped by the hospital to say goodbye on their way out of town.

Just a little peanut. You weighed 7 lbs 1 ounce when we left the hospital.

Leaving the parking garage at the hospital!

Welcome home!

The next day your Aunt Kalyn drove in from Waxahachie where she was visiting her in-laws so that she could meet you!

We are so glad to have you here with us Landon!

Ethan gets a baby brother!

Friday afternoon Ethan came up to visit Mommy and Daddy and meet his new baby brother. We sent Landon to the nursery so that Ethan could see just Mommy and Daddy at first and talk about how he was getting a brother. Then we took him down the hall to meet him. Ethan happily chatted and we heard the words "baby" and "brother" as we took him down the hall.

We used the intercom phone to ask for Landon to be brought to the window. Ethan pointed out the baby but seemed a bit more interested in his balloon.

Baby Landon

Checking ID tags. Yep, this one's ours!

Ethan was interested in the baby and kept talking and pointing out that this was a baby.

Back at the room he was a little less sure of the baby but he was very sweet to his brother.

Giving baby Landon a kiss.

The balloon was a little more interesting though. He made shapes with the balloon string and would call them out. "Triangle! Circle! Square!"

Then we told him that baby Landon had a present for him. "Present??" He was happily surprised and enjoyed opening his big brother bag and playing with the book and activities that we had inside for him.

38 weeks + 2 days

I swore I'd never do one of these dirty mirror/dirty bathroom self-portraits but I took this photo on Sunday when I was home alone and having contractions. I was afraid that if it turned out to be real labor then my last belly picture would be from 34 weeks. It's not the best photo but here it is: 37 weeks +6 days. Obviously it was false labor.

I had my last OB appointment today at 38 weeks + 2 days. We had another growth scan and he is measuring at 74th percentile and an estimated weight of 7 lbs and 14 oz. Still head down and everything looks good! The ultrasound tech surprised me with another set of 3D pictures. Below are two of our favorites. In most of the photos he was pursing his lips like this. From what we could see he has chubby little cheeks and arms. We could only get a clear picture of his face from the nose down.

The doctor examined me and I am already dilated to a 4 and only need some active contractions before it'll be baby time. She felt it was very doubtful that I would make it to my planned induction date so it was moved up to September 11th. At that she's still doubtful that I will make it but thats the closest we can move it up. I'm supposed to stop taking my blood thinning shot a day and a half before we induce so we are hoping that he holds out a little longer so that we can better plan when to stop my shots. (At the moment its Heparin. It has a shorter half-life than lovenox so it will get out of my system quicker) To date my net weight gain for this pregnancy is -0.5 lbs.

So we have 6 more days at the very most! It's getting pretty surreal.
