Where We've Been

We moved! When I made my last post house post we were only thinking of moving with the grand scheme of our "big picture plan" in mind. I still thought it was another year or two away. After looking at the housing market, checking out our target neighborhood and talking with the bank and a realtor we realized that we were actually a lot closer to our goal than we had realized and could move now if we wanted. And so the whirlwind began!

We put a contract on a house at the end of February and the next day our house went on the market! We had a massive ice storm that weekend, however, we still had 6 showings in 48 hours and received 5 offers! It was all a little amazing. We couldn't even get out of our driveway because of the ice so we had several "car parties" with the ipad, popcorn, hot chocolate and other snacks while the house was being shown. The kids were pretty wild being cooped up in the car but they still ask if we can have another car party. Who would have guessed it would be such a hit?

After lots of house selling/house buying drama (though probably not more than normal) we sold our home on March 31st and bought our new house on April 6th. April 7th we moved!

During this time we were sick the last week in our old house and the first two weeks in our new house. I was even running fever on the day we closed! It was definitely a rough transition.

All the drama, stress, and chaos was worth it though. We love our new home! I loved our old house and thought it suited us well, but our new house seems to fit us even better. It feels more comfortable and more like home than I had expected it to so quickly. The kids love it and often talk about the differences between the "new house" and "original house". I'm glad that they have taken to it so quickly! I knew I was going to love certain things about the new house but I didn't realize just how much I was going to love it. We really are so happy.

The past 6 weeks in our house have flown by in a haze of painting, unpacking, and getting outside and meeting people. I didn't get my computer up and running until earlier in the week, but that now that its up I'm going to try to get back into a normal routine of taking pictures again and blogging! I've really missed having a camera in my hand!

House Photos- Update!

I've been meaning to post an update with newer pictures of our house for a while now. I've been holding off because at some point of every day our house looks like this:

Also, I look around and see a lot of little unfinished projects and things that we still plan to change. Things take time though and evolve slowly so I know that if I wait for things to be perfect they never will be. I've been sitting on these pictures for about six months but with our 4 year anniversary of buying our home almost here, I'm going to go ahead and post these pictures as a snapshot for how the house looks at this point in time. A couple of the photos are recent and were taken just so that I could finish this post.

Landon's room has already changed a lot since I took these photos. His crib has been converted to a toddler bed, the hamper moved, the changing table and rocking chair gone, and a train table has been added to where the changing table was.

Ethan's wall nightlight is shaped like the moon. Ethan is in love with it. The moon nightlight can be set to different phases of the moon (which also controls the brightness level). 

And this is our house! 1306 sq feet. I know the house (mainly the yard) looks a little different in the way I photograph it for our daily life pictures but that's because when I'm photographing my children I try to photograph it through their eyes and my eyes, and I'm photographing it as a home. I can't believe its already been four years! It's been a happy four years though!

Ethan's Toddler Room

Ethan's room as a toddler room. We ordered Ethan's rocketship bedding from Target and I had barely pulled the bag of bedding out of the box when Ethan came running from across the room yelling "It's SPACE! It's SPACE!" He plopped down on the floor next to me and took the bedding from me and started pointing out the rocketship, moon, stars, etc excitedly talking away. We pulled the bedding out to show him and he immediately sat down on it talking 90 miles an hour about space and pointing out the different pictures. He was so excited!

 

House Photos: Computer Room!

Whew! It took most of Saturday but we finished unpacking and sorting through the boxes in the computer rom (3rd bedroom) and it is now organized and put together. Feels fantastic! (Now I just need to finish the last few touches in our bedroom and I'll be done with the house photos)
