{Daily Moments} Joyful

You joyfully rolled around in your chalk drawing and sandbox and then you joyfully took a bath. Age 2 is not to be taken too seriously!

Landon: 2.75!

Landon,

You are 3/4's of the way to age THREE. At age 3 you'll be a pre-schooler and no longer a toddler. It's hard to imagine my baby being that big in so short a time! There is also a sigh of relief that comes with you approaching age 3. Discipline will be better understood! Your own sense of self-preservation will hopefully kick in! Maybe boundaries will be better obeyed. Or not. Who knows. I am excited to see you grow into your own little person with your own interests and own story to tell.

At 2.75 years old you:
  • Weigh: 32 lbs and are 36.75 inches tall
  • Clothes size: 2T's that run large and 3T's that run small. Size 7 shoes are almost outgrown and your size 3 PJ's are getting rather tight.
  • Napping is a thing of the past and has been for quite some time. It takes a lot to tire you out for a nap and then its usually a nap that happens around 4, 5, or 6. You have such an amazing amount of energy. We can play outside for half the day in the heat, let you run around the block a mile or two and then go swimming for a few hours and then and ONLY then are you ready for a nap. Usually when your brother falls asleep in the car we will find you still awake. Even with all this activity you still aren't ready for bed until 8:30-10 pm and you'll wake up around 7 or 7:30. As much as I'd love to see you take naps still, your attitude generally stays pretty good without naps. Being outside and in motion seems to re-energize you.

You love the Wonder pets! Most of your play tends to revolve around the Wonder pets. Most of your toys are in peril and need rescuing. You have even started calling me "Wonder Pet Mom" which you have shortened to "Wonder Mom". "Thanks, Wonder Mom!" and even "You're welcome Wonder Mom!". Its adorable and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Your first night in your new room at our new house you woke up and found a baby gate across your door. I heard your door open and you say,"WONDER PETS! Help Help! I'm stuck!" You also call the Wonder pets for help when I'm trying to wrangle you into your car seat.

You have developed a nail biting habit and tend to make your thumb sore. As a result, you've also developed a band-aid habit whenever you notice how sore your finger is. Pretty much every day you ask for what you call a "Strong Sticker" for your thumb.

You are so independent and completely smitten with the community playground. One morning I woke up to you saying "Hiya, Mama! I'm going to the playground. I'm going to the playground, Mama!"(muffled talking from the other room). "Hey where's my water shoes?" (pops head back in the room). "I'll be back, I'm going to the playground!".

Every morning you come into the living room with one of your nighttime treasures and you set it on the couch or chair. I hear your diaper rustling as you make several trips to get each treasure one at a time. Scout, Elephant, Elephant #2, Turtle, and your water cup. Once all your treasures have been transferred to the living room you will come get me for your morning cartoon and chocolate milk. Some days you'll wake up and play with the trains in your room before starting this routine.

You have started trying to climb from our little tree in our front yard. You are very determined about it! You have also already cut your own hair with scissors though thankfully not much was snipped off. In short, you are a cute little unpredictable mess and I can't believe you are almost three!
