Self-portrait: 11- 28- 12

The natural light in Landon's nursery is so beautiful in the afternoon. Especially at this time of year. I found my tripod (which I couldn't find the other day) so I decided to give the self-portrait another try. This time I decided to try to capture a lens flare with the light coming in from the nursery window. I was using my wireless remote so once I setup the shot I couldn't see how things turned out until I had taken my shots. I was successful in one of my shots, even though it didn't turn out looking exactly like I had pictured it in my head.

So far the three self-portraits I've attempted haven't been very creative but I'm learning and getting better each time I do it. Maybe one day I'll get good enough at it to capture Ethan in a picture as well! (I asked him if he wanted to be in the picture but he said no, and then decided that he no longer wanted to wear pants. So I guess things worked out for the best).

Precious baby toes

I just love sweet little baby toes.

And I especially love how he tries to curl them around my finger when I touch his feet.

It's not very noticeable on a 2 month old, but two of Landon's toes on his right foot are slightly webbed. It won't affect him with shoes or physical activity; it's just something unique about him that I hope he will grow up appreciating. In boy language isn't it cooler than scars and stuff?

And for those that are curious about Landon's neat toes, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:

Who gets syndactyly?

Syndactyly can occur in any newborn infant. Overall, syndactyly occurs in approximately one out of 2500 newborns. Syndactyly is more common in Caucasians than in other ethnicities, and affects boys twice as often as girls. The exact cause of the condition is unknown. Syndactyly occurs when apoptosis or programmed cell death during gestation is absent or incomplete.

Happy Thanksgiving!

(for the record, when I asked his big brother if he wanted to take a picture too he said "No". And yes, those are Garrett's baby shoes making an appearance on Landon's feet!)

Self portrait: 11- 16- 2012

{Landon and Mommy: 10 weeks old and 29 years old}

Self portraits are hard and I have a lot to learn about doing them. The two second delay on my remote timer is helpful but it still can be hard to hide the remote and get situated in time. I didn't do the best job of hiding it and looking natural but it gives me something to work on. Since I don't have many pictures of me and my boys I figured I needed to stop being so critical and post it anyway!

Landon: 2 months!

Landon,

At 2 months old you:

  • Weigh 12 lbs 6.5 oz and are 24 and 1/4 inches long. (70th percentile for weight and 90th percentile for length). Your head circumference is 39.7 (50th percentile)
  • Wear size 1 diaper and for the most part size 0-3 month clothing. For some items we will be putting you in size 3-6 month clothing soon.
  • Are doing fantastic on sleep! You slept between 8-9 hours straight without asking for a bottle three nights in a row this month. I am amazed.
  • Eat 4 ounces of formula every 3 hours. You have been doing this for a while now but you have recently started spitting up more when you eat.
  • Have started socially smiling. Your smiles are still far and few between but it is becoming an every day thing now. The first time you did this was when I came up to you in your crib when you were crying. When you heard your name you smiled at me so big! The second time your brother came up to you when you were in your swing and you gave him tons of smiles! (as of yesterday you have majorly turned up the smiles!)
  • You rolled over!

You are becoming more wiggly and less cuddly (because you want to push up and act like you are trying to go somewhere!)  but you have also wanted to be held more too and you don't like it when your brother and I leave the part of the room where you can see us.

I love the way your little head bobs up and down when you are laying up against my shoulder.

I also love the way you pull your hands up to your chin and arch your back when you do one of your little baby stretches.

You are starting to coo and your little voice sounds so sweet.

Your cheeks have become so chubby that when you use one of your 0+ pacifiers you get pacifier shaped intentions in your cheeks. When you spit out your pacifier you have a butterfly looking shape on your face!

I love snuggling your little fuzzy head. When I pick you up you have the cutest little cowlick in the back where you actually have a little bit of hair.

Since you are now two months old I tried one of our one-size cloth diapers on you. Surprisingly it fit really well but you still have a little bit more growth needed to cut down on leaks.

I saw you go from crying for a bottle to patiently waiting when you saw me mixing your bottle of formula. It was so neat to see you show that you understood what was coming next.

You are not exactly a fan of tummy time but I think that's pretty standard for a baby your age!

With you tummy time is more often on our chests or in your bed so that we can keep you safe from flying toys and rambunctious toddler feet.

It is also still a little too hard for me to get you up and down off the floor so we haven't used our baby gym mat yet for your tummy time but I imagine tummy time will start getting more interesting for you in the next month or so.

You are still a really easy baby and we feel so blessed to have you in our family Landon!

Sometimes...

...we have these kinds of days.

But I still think they are cute!

We help Daddy

I can't help it but this picture reminds me of a little golden book that I used to read as a kid. Did you ever read this book?

These days Garrett has a little shadow who wants to help! I'm sure it won't be long before he has two little boys following his every move.

This specific day Ethan was helping Daddy hang up a curtain rod for the blackout curtains we bought for Ethan's room. Ethan was having trouble napping and when he did it was for a very short time (almost not worth the crying). He kept asking us to "turn off the lights" even though they were already off and the blinds were closed. After a week of trying to get him to sleep we decided to give curtains a try. The verdict? It was a success! The first post-curtain nap was 3 hours and 15 minutes long!

More Halloween

Halloween morning Ethan got a swirly pop from his Grammy! When Grammy was here last Ethan was on a huge Monsters vs. Aliens Halloween special kick. We watched that video so many times! (Ethan calls it 'Space'). In the video, one of the characters gets his favorite piece of candy- a swirly pop- and Ethan has been enamored with it ever since and has asked us for a swirly pop several times a day. He finally got one!

And I can't forget to post a picture of Landon! Landon was sporting a monster onesie for his first Halloween!

Saturday morning kiddie "kitty" cuddles

Lately Ethan has been pretending that he is a kitty. He wanted to curl up in our bed like the cats and meow. Here he is snuggling with "Daddy cat".

Melt my heart

Ethan wanted me to draw a big and a little heart. Then he wanted them to be 'happy'. Then he told me that it was a Mommy heart and an Ethan heart. <3 br="br">

Melt my heart!
