Second Studio Shoot

On Tuesday I had my second studio shoot with the photo Mom's group. It was so much fun. Not only do I get out of the house and socialize with other mom's but its ME time. Yes, I'm still watching my child and tending to his needs, but while I'm doing so I'm getting to work on my hobby. Having a set time and place to do so ensures that I carve out the time to work on my photography. Not that I have any trouble finding time to take photos, but it adds structure and a theme.

For this shoot, I decided to bring balloons as a prop. It was a big hit! I brought extra balloons to share with the other kids and they were SO excited! Especially the toddlers. Kids and balloons make for some great expressions. I was sharing my lens with another mom who didn't have the right lens for the lighting conditions so I regret that I didn't get a chance to photograph the other kids playing with the balloons, but I'm glad that I was able to help her out so she could get some shots. I only brought one lens with me so while the other mom was photographing her son my camera was out of commission.

Later on after our photo shoot Garrett and I took Ethan outside to play. We brought the balloons along too since they still had helium. Figured we might as well take some more photos!

Why am I still in this crib?

Good Clean Fun

I love my mom's deep kitchen sinks and her new faucet! Before Ethan was born I thought it was a nice setup but after bathing him in it, I'm in love!

Ethan was in love with the sink too. He had so much fun! Instead of a quick in-and-out bath like he normally gets I let him play and splash around for a bit.

Eww, soap.

In the end the kitchen floor was soaked but it was so worth it for the look on his face. I love that he is at an age now where he loves baths!

Morgan meets Ethan!

Ethan and I went to Abilene this week so that he could meet his Aunt Morgan! Morgan just got back from Japan and was anxious to finally meet her nephew. Garrett had work and had to stay behind but he was thankful for the quiet house so that he could work on his thesis in the evenings.

Ethan and Morgan wearing their Japanese Yukatas.

Sully, the special needs kitten that my parents are fostering (long story). Ethan was captivated with him. If Sully was around no one else existed.

Playtime (Yes, the exersaucer does travel with us!)

If you look closely, you will see that he got another tooth! The second tooth arrived the day we left for Abilene.

Silly face

My sisters accidentally ended up wearing the same shirt. Astrid would probably want me to mention that she got dressed first. ;-) We thought it was pretty funny so we took a few quick pictures.

Ethan and Uncle Adam playing with the AirZooka.

It was a fun trip! We played Mexican Train Dominos, went on walks, and played Monopoly. Also, we had dinner at Adam and Hailey's house one night, a cookout at my parents house on another night (complete with extended family), and on our last night in town we went out to Olive Garden! Ethan did great at the restaurant. He sat quietly in his highchair playing with the paper coasters. At the end of our meal he started getting silly and was laughing at anything and everything. Very entertaining! He was definitely showing off for his Aunts and his Uncle.

While visiting was a lot of fun we were glad to get back to Garrett at the end of our trip. He was definitely missing us! He surprised me with a single red rose when he came home from work. Ethan cried anytime his Daddy left the room (even though I was with him) and he has wanted Garrett over me. I think that boy missed his Daddy. :-)

7 Months!

Well, I can't believe I'm writing another "month" post already, but Ethan is now 7 months old! I love this age, it's so fun! He sits up great and is so interested in everything yet he isn't very mobile yet. He can scoot around a bit but it takes him a while to get where he wants to get. The cats are still safe from him and have no idea what is coming...

Ethan, at 7 Months you are:
weighing in at almost 19 1/2 lbs
wearing size 6-9 month and 6-12 month clothes and are just about to go into size 3 shoes.

You have started to take notice of stuffed animals are interested in playing with them.

You cut your first tooth! (look carefully, it's there!)

Improvising on PJ's. :-) You have already grown into your 6-12 month Halloween outfit. Since there are no guarantees it will still fit come October I figured we might as well start using it!

See how excited he is? This is the reason that Momma has to put him to bed. :-) He gets too excited when its his Daddy's turn. He loooves his Daddy!

You also love mirrors...

You hold up your arms to us when you are ready for us to pick you up. And also you have started to wake up from your naps with crazy hair. Now that your hair is getting fuller we have to wet down your hair and actually brush it and fix it!

I would have had more pictures but this post is already a bit late! ;-)

Sippity doo dah!

Sippity aye, My oh my what a wonderful day!

Ethan went to the grocery store and got a new sippy cup! He LOVED the sippy cup aisle! It's a good thing I went down that aisle with the intent of buying one because there was no way we were going home without a sippy cup after I saw the look of pure joy on his face. :-)

Oops! Where did it go?

THERE it is!

What a fun toy! **He had no intention of actually DRINKING from it :-) **
