I just packed away some more of my baby's 0-3 month sized clothes. He still has a few 0-3 month outfits that he fits into but he fits everything perfectly at this point. I feel a little sad. Garrett was incredulous when he saw me pick up his favorite outfit to pack away. He didn't believe me at first when I said it was too small until I held it up for him to look at. We didn't even have to hold it up to Ethan, he knew right away it was too small. It's hard to believe that these 0-3 month clothes used to be too big on Ethan. I didn't have a problem with the fact that my baby is already 2 months old until I started putting away laundry and culling through his clothes. *sigh*
On the other hand, I love having a two month old. He has slept through the night twice this week (YAY!) and he is smiling a whole lot more. I think he is more fun at this age than he was when he was just two weeks old and we were still trying to figure him out. Back then I wanted him to grow up a little bit faster so that I could find my bearing and figure the kid out (I was pretty tired). Now that I've adjusted I'd like the time to go just a little bit slower...please?
Last night I put my favorite PJ's on him....and they didn't fit. The poor baby couldn't straighten out his legs. I had always intended to take a picture of him wearing them because they were my favorite pair but I somehow never got around to it (which is pretty amazing considering how many pictures I take). I quickly took a few pictures before I took the PJ's off and packed them away. Goodbye rhino footies.... I'll miss you.
My maternity leave is over in 11 days. I seriously don't know where the time has gone. :-(
This past weekend my in-laws came to visit us! Garrett's parents came with his sister Robin and her four kids. Robin and the kids were finally able to meet Ethan! The kids LOVED their cousin and were all eager to take turns holding him. They all wanted to help me feed him and do things for him. Four year old Sydney was especially eager to do things for Ethan. She followed me around all weekend saying "May I please help you?" in her sweet little 4 year old voice. It was too precious. She was quite taken with the baby.
Here are some pictures from our weekend. We went to the park and the zoo!
Wyatt- 5 years old
Irelyn- 6 years old
Rowdy- 9 years old
Sydney- 4 years old

Well, I am pleased to report that Ethan is making definite progress on the whole sleeping thing! He goes to bed sometime between 12 and 2 AM and he usually sleeps (with 1-2 feeding breaks) until around 9 AM. Also, we no longer have to keep our hand on him the entire time he is sleeping. There are still times in the night when he will start to fidget and wake up, but if we put a hand on him for a few minutes he will quiet down and go back to sleep but it is a relief that we don't have to do it the entire night anymore. We have started putting him in his bed until he wakes up a couple of hours later and then we put him in the co-sleeper with us so that we can keep a hand on him while he (and we) sleep. Previously we were only able to get him to sleep in the co-sleeper so I am happy that phase one of integrating him back to his own bed is working. Also, I can't get him to take naps that are longer than 10 minutes in his bed or the co-sleeper but I'm starting to be able to get him to take naps in his swing. He still takes a couple of his naps in my arms, but it's nice that he will nap in the swing as well. Definite improvement! AND.....can I brag some more? He no longer has the nickname of "Fuss bucket"! Apparently that phase has passed (for now anyway) and we are all much happier for it. :-)
So what else is going on? Well, Ethan just finished a big growth spurt that he had this week. For four days straight he was eating like crazy and he just went back to his normal eating schedule so we decided to weigh him. Well, in 6 days the kid gained 1.1 lbs! That brings the total weight of my 8 week old baby to 12.8 lbs! Yikes! I was blown away. I had no idea that he weighed almost 13 lbs! I had noticed that he had gotten a lot longer though. We just switched him to size 2 diapers. I can't believe he is already in size 2's!
Also in "growing" news.... his Daddy and I turn 27 and 29 in just three days. THREE days! Seriously? I can't believe it! It feels like 26 just happened! (And you better had not been thinking that I was the one turning 29.. ;-) LOL)
Here are a few pictures from this week!
Garrett "wearing a baby" for a nighttime walk. We have discovered that a quick walk around the apartment building will put him to sleep if he is reluctant to go down for the night.
Getting ready for our walk!
Trying to get Ethan to nap in the co-sleeper. Lasted about 10 minutes.

I've now learned to cover up the co-sleeper when Ethan isn't in it. ;-)
Ethan has had a really good day today! He was happy to play in his bouncer for quite a while. He is starting to be able to bounce himself when he kicks. Also, he has started reaching for the toys on the toy bar! I think he is more entertained with it now that he can bounce and make his toys dance around. Also, Ethan has taken TWO naps in his swing today! Yay! I'm in the process of doing laundry right now while we speak. :-) It's nice that he is being content on his own today so that I can get caught up on the household chores.
Also, Ethan has been SMILING! He has smiled before but they are usually few and far between. However, yesterday he started smiling one smile after another. Of course this meant that I grabbed my camera and took a ton of pictures trying to capture one of those smiles! Also, last night at 3:30 AM after I gave Ethan his bottle he fell asleep. Well, as soon as I laid him down he woke up but instead of fussing he just kicked his legs and waved his arms around while he cooed, gurgled, and smiled! I couldn't go right back to bed, it was just too interesting to watch him. Garrett woke up when he heard him and couldn't go back to bed either. So the two of us just laid in bed with Ethan between us in the co-sleeper while we watched him smile. Once we spoke to each other Ethan got real still and we could tell that he was listening to our voices and then he started smiling again. Who would have guessed that the two of us would give up the chance to sleep so that we could just grin and sit and watch our child being cute in the middle of the night? AND to top things off, Ethan slept for 4.5 hours and then 4 hours last night! He woke up a few times and we could hear him talk to himself or suck on his fist but then he went right back to bed without crying for us. I hope talking about it doesn't jinx any repeat performances! I mean, I won't expect him to do the same thing tonight, but maybe this is a sign that we will one day be rested again. :-) I have to say, I feel AMAZING today!
Wow, this post has taken me three days to complete! As soon as I would sit down at the computer, Ethan would decide to fuss. Usually he's content to be cradled in my lap while I am typing one handed at the computer. However, the past few days he's really enjoyed laying on my shoulder and looking around. Which of course requires two hands. :-) Hey, if he won't do tummy time, then this is the next best thing!
Anyways though, what's new with us? On Friday two things happened: 1) Ethan had a massive blowout diaper and required an emergency bath. 2) I got my first direct smile from Ethan! After I got him all cleaned up he rewarded me by making eye contact and then smiling! Way to go Ethan! Of course this made me not mind the blowout, resulting laundry, and bath at all. :-)
Saturday the three of us decided to go for a walk around Deep Ellum and visit the "Traveling Man" statues. I also went shopping for a pair of non-maternity jeans on Saturday as well. That was... interesting. Jean shopping is always "fun" and shopping for jeans after having a baby was even MORE fun. Oh well, I survived! I may just have to cut the tags out of my jeans so I can forget the size. ;-)
Here are some pictures from our weekend!
There are three "Traveling Man" statues situated around the DART rail in downtown.
