Our baby is the size of a lime!

I found a cool weekly chart that compares the approximate size of the baby to fruit and vegetables! If you're interested, check it out here.

Sunday Brisket

Right now Garrett and I have a brisket in the oven. I love having brisket for Sunday dinner. It takes 3 hours to cook but its so worth it!

Garrett has started taking weekly pictures of me wearing the same outfit, standing in the same spot, same lighting and time of day, etc. Right now the pictures aren't too interesting but I'm sure that's about to change soon! I've already found that my jeans and work pants are getting too tight in the waistband. I even got so uncomfortable on Friday that I broke down and fastened my pants with a rubber band hair tie instead of buttoning them. I can still button them but its no fun wearing them. I haven't gained any weight yet, but as my sister-in-law reminded me, just because I'm not gaining weight it doesn't mean that the baby isn't growing!

I'm 11 weeks pregnant today and this past week the morning sickness has finally started to abate. I still have it but instead of all day every day morning sickness that hits every 45 minutes and keeps me eating a bland diet of carbs, fruit, and peanut butter I'm finally getting a break. I'll have it bad one day like normal but then I'll get two days or so where it only hits about every 2 hours and I can actually do some things in the evening when I get home. The last 4 weeks I haven't been able to do anything after dinner. I'd eat, feel sick and lay on the couch, get up and exercise and then go to bed- usually without even getting to shower because I'd be too queasy by that point. However, I had to cut back on my afternoon workouts due to being too hungry/sick to exercise on the treadmill at work during my lunchbreak so my evening workouts have taken on a new importance. I'm so happy to be this close to the end of the first trimester! I'm also starting to get more energy- I'm so excited!!

Also, Garrett and I bought our first baby item! We went ahead and purchased our stroller. I had been reviewing strollers for weeks and finally found a lightweight stroller that we thought would work the best for us. Then, a week later it went on sale! Plus I had a coupon, so we decided that we had to go ahead and jump on it now while we had the option of saving $30. We love it! Garrett put it together and tried it out with my hand weights in the seat to give it some weight. Garrett has been noticing strollers for years- I guess its the engineering that goes into it plus its a "vehicle"- and gave it his seal of approval.

Father's Day!

Today we celebrated Garrett's first unofficial Father's Day. I made him breakfast and gave him a small sentimental gift. For his gift he got two of his favorite books that he liked read to him when he was a child! He was so excited as he read through the books and remembered the pictures and phrases. He's looking forward to reading them to our baby! Along with the books, I gave him candy and two cards- a real card with a personal message and a silly card to make him laugh. He loved the silly card so much that he scanned it and turned it into a single image. The image on the left was the outside of the card and the bottom portion flipped open to reveal the image inside.

First Pictures of the Baby!

The ultrasound on the left is from 5 and a half weeks and the ultrasound on the right is from 7 weeks. Its amazing how much changes in a week and a half! In the image on the right we were able to see the baby's heartbeat!

Mother's Day- Our big news!

We found out that we were expecting on Mother's Day. The timing couldn't have been better! After seeing the positive test result I woke Garrett up and he immediately found the gift that I had set out for him on his dresser.

My sweet husband was so excited that he ran out and bought the ingredients to make waffles for breakfast and bought me a dozen roses. After breakfast we called both of our Mother's to wish them a happy Mother's Day and tell them
our news!

Proud Dad-to-be showing off the new shirt!

New Blog!

Well, I've never had a blog before but I thought I'd give it a try! Garrett has always said that blogs are a great way to keep family updated with what is going on with our lives. Now that we have a baby on the way it seemed like the perfect time to start blogging!
